SPARC, A Chapter of DSUSA Paratriathlon Training Clinic

SPARC, A Chapter of DSUSA, is proud to announce its second Paratriathlon Training Clinic with instruction provided by coaches from the Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club of Chicago, Illinois, which is also a Chapter of DSUSA.
The clinic is open to athletes ages 16 and up of all experience levels. The clinic will be held at the excellent facilities of the Girls Preparatory School (GPS), which is near downtown Chattanooga, and many hotels and restaurants. The clinic will include one and a half days of training in swimming (pool), cycling/handcycling, running/pushing, transition, nutrition, and equipment maintenance. The tentative schedule and registration information are listed below.
Registration is tentatively limited to fifteen athletes, first-come, first-serve, due to limitation of coaches and equipment. Registration is limited to athletes with physical or visual impairment that could be classified in one of the categories defined by ITU Paratriathlon Sport Classes (Categories) as listed on the USA Paratriathlon’s website: https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/USAT-for-Me/Athlete-Resources/Paratriathletes/Classifications. Registration fee is $25. Lunch will be provided on both days. Registrants are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements.

Biographies of Coaches:
Dan Tun – Co-founder and Coach: Dan is a USA Triathlon Level I, USA Triathlon Youth & Junior, and USA Hockey Level III certified coach and specializes in adaptive and Paralympic sports. He was previously the Special Recreation Coordinator for the Chicago Park District. Dan has completed an Ironman and has also guided multiple runners and triathletes with disabilities as they completed various races across the Chicago area.
Stacee Seay - Head Coach: Stacee holds a USA Triathlon Level I coaching certification and a USA Cycling Level III certification. Stacee has a great passion for swimming, cycling, and running, and she has been a competitive cyclist for many years. Her true zeal for adaptive sport is evident when she uses her knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, which translates into carefully structured and purposeful training plans that boost performance for athletes of all ability levels. Stacee has been working with athletes with physical disabilities since 2008 and she has used this experience to enhance her ability to create personalized training plans for each of her athletes, as well as keep workouts fun and challenging for a group.
Sofia Anastasopoulos: Sofia began her journey in adaptive sports in 2010, when she began working with the University of Illinois Wheelchair Track Team. She graduated with her B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and subsequently her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014 from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She has assisted with Dare2Tri for several seasons, specifically with the wheelchair racing portion.
